2007 Craft Fair Report

'Twas the month before Christmas and all through the club house
lots of creatures were stirring but none was a mouse.
The tables were filled with all kinds of wares
from paintings and baked goods to baskets and hats
to pillows and quillos and all sorts of mats,
to jewelry and ornaments, to quilts and to toys
there were all sorts of gifts for big girls and boys.

The shed, though not lovely, looked much like a store,
with all sorts of paintings, crochet goods and more.
And there was Santa all set to see every kid
who had long lists of wishes from Santa to bid.

The elves, they were busy with all sort of goods
donated by businesses and the whole neighborhood.
We had a good time and we thank everyone
for helping to make the fair again so well done!

Thank yous go to so many people this year for helping make our Christmas Craft Fair another huge success.  Please forgive me if I've left anyone out.  With so much going on the day of the fair, I don't always get the names of the people that donated gifts or baked goods.  Helpers came out of the wood work this year and for that I am grateful.

Our local businesses and club members were extremely generous this year making our raffle prizes among the best ever.  We are ever so grateful for their generosity and we hope that you will frequent their establishments.  Their names will appear throughout this fair update.

We began setting up early with the help of Rita Griffin and Wayne Griffin, Shirley Bunnell, Dot Sweeney, Joyce and David   Bourget, Millard and Anita Edwards, Trudy and John Huff, Gayle Shivik, Ida Johnson, and Gary Jobes.  Many hands made the job go quickly.  The day of the fair, baked goods poured in from the following whose names I know:
Rita Griffin, Nancy Emmons, Jill Young, Anita Edwards, Cindy Rioux, Dubie's Pittstop, Alice Lyons,      Gary Jobes, Nate Furbish, Helga Ziegler
In addition to donations from local businesses and friends of the club, more raffle prizes came from our crafters:
Edna Leclair, Linda Chase, Donna Gould, Bette King, Cyn Fysh, Joyce Bourget, Cindy Rioux, Bobbie        Lacoy, Shirley Bunnell, Dot Sweeney, Nancee Harrigan, Joan Allaire, Pauli Gilbert, Ruth Mailhot, Tricia         and Nate Furbish, Judi Taggart, Linda Lomasney, Gladys Wise, and Rita Lee.
Club members and friends of the club who also donated to the raffle tables were:
Rita Griffin, Jane Romanow, Anita Edwards, Gayle and Tom Shivik, Pam Bliss, Cindy Elkins, Alice Lyons, Helga Ziegler

Santa, AKA Old Saint Nick, made an early appearance without his sleigh and reindeer.  He enjoyed listening to the children and gave each one a candy cane and small gift.  I even sat on his lap and gave him a kiss!

The kitchen was staffed by Doug Lyons and Gary Jobes.  Rita Griffin donated the black bean soup and Doug made and donated his hot and mild sausage chowder.  Anita Edwards, Edna Leclair and Rita also made the muffins  served to the crafters during set up.  Pictured are several ladies enjoying the soups.

Manning the club sales tables were Ida Johnson, Rita Griffin and Helen Dratwa. Alice Lyons manned the raffle table all day.  She also gave out small tokens donated by OHRV and NHSA to all attendees.  Door prizes were drawn throughout the fair.  Raffle donors and winners were as follows:

At 1 PM 2 bicycles donated by Joyce and David Bourget, a Christmas basket made by Tom and Gayle Shivik and a wreath made by Cindy Elkins were auctioned off.  The auctioneer ran between both buildings until the final price was set!  Whew!

One special donation came from Nate Furbish who made a few dozen cookies that looked like hamburgers with potato sticks as fries.  He donated quite a few to our bake table and gave half of his proceeds to the fair for Easter Seals.  He is pictured with Paul Bergeron, Ridgerunners Snowmbile Club president and Helga Ziegler.

Robert Kelly, Camp Director for Easter Seals of New Hampshire was kind enough to send us a disk showing some activities to which our fund raiser will provide money for children in need.  Paul Bergeron provided his laptop and kept the disk running throughout the day.

Doug Lyons drew the winning ticket of the Pittsburg Roadrunners' Great North Woods quilt and the winner was me!  They've reported that over $2000 will be given to the local food pantry.  Thanks to the many people who bought tickets.

One of the crafters, Julie Riendeau, sold a beautiful selection of wreaths and centerpieces outside.  We hope the person who got the wrong change will please step forward and call the club.

We are ever so grateful to all the people responsible  for making this fund raiser another great success.

2007 Craft Fair Update  November 12

There’s just a short time before we have the Annual Christmas Craft Fair.  Once again, we will be opening the groomer shed for the demand of new crafters wishing to set up.  This year Santa will be paying a visit and will be stationed in the shed from 11-2.  Door prizes will be given throughout the day.

There will be a wonderful display of a large variety of crafts and gifts.  As in the past, a light lunch will be served.  Club memberships and clothing will also be available.  The crafters will be displaying their paintings, quilts, quillos, jewelry, holiday ornaments, crochet and knitted items, baskets,  preserves, and other gifts.  The spinning wheel may again be humming throughout the day.

We will again have a money tree on our raffle table.  Due to the generosity of our local businesses, it promises to be the best one ever.  We also have a number of gift certificates and nice gifts with promises of more to come.

Advertisement has been made with flyers in many of the local businesses as well as in area newspapers covering the Great North Woods and parts of  northern Vermont.  Paid advertisements have been requested in our local papers.  WOKQ has also been contacted.

The winning ticket for the Pittsburg Roadrunners’ Great North Woods quilt (pictured) will be drawn at 3 PM.  Tickets will be available at the fair.  Looking closely at the quilt, you will see moose stitched all around the edge.   Pictures were taken all over town depicting the beauty of our area.  Tickets are $2 each and 3 for $5.  All proceeds will go to the local food pantry.

All available spaces are now taken, but names can be added to a waiting list in case of cancellations.  Contact the club’s web master, if interested.  Any donation of food or raffle items are gratefully accepted.

  Come join the fun.

2007 Annual Christmas Craft Fair

Now that we are past foliage peak, it's time to think Snowmobile Craft Fair.  The trees still look pretty, but the change is in the air.  This year's fair will take place on November 24, 10-3.  I've gotten permission to use the whole groomer shed, so I will be able to accommodate most of  the names on my waiting list.

As in the past, I will honor requests for spaces to those who signed up directly after last year's fair.  I always assign spaces on a first come first serve basis.  For people with computer access, please let me know if you still wish a space as soon as possible.  I've already received one check to reserve the tables.

I am keeping the cost per space at $10 with an additional request of a donation to our raffle table.  To reserve your table, please send a check, made out to PRRSC or cash to 17 Dickson Lane, Pittsburg, NH 03592 by November 10.  Checks and cash can also be given to me personally.

As always, donations and helping hands are needed to make this a successful event.  We'll be calling on local businesses and friends of the club shortly for donations to our raffle table.  All money earned by the fair, will again go directly to Easter Seal's Camp Sno-Mo.

Your help would be much appreciated.  I can be contacted by E-mail at prrsc@pittsburgridgerunners.org.
