Trail Report for Thursday, February 25th, 2016

by | Feb 25, 2016 | Club News, Trail Reports, Warming Hut, What We're Talking About

Our Trail Coordinators have been out assessing the trails. After yesterday’s heavy rain, today’s 53 degree temperatures and more rain falling this afternoon, our trail system has taken a beating. There is ponded water on the trails, water bars and possible overflowing brooks as well. The rain is changing over to snow and we could get 1 to 3 inches of accumulation.

The groomers will not be going out for a least 24 hours. The water on the trails needs to recede and we need to receive more snow to allow the groomers to go out.

The trails south of Trail 112 are poor. The trails north of Trail 112 are passable but use extreme caution for water in the trails. There is still snow in the higher elevations. Trailering to Magalloway Road and to East Inlet parking areas is recommended.

TRAIL CLOSURES: Trail 141 between Dorman’s gas and Young’s Store has been closed.

The trails in Pittsburg village are closed.

Also, please use extreme caution on the lakes which have large areas of ponded water. These ponded areas of water can be several feet deep.

The Pittsburg Ridge Runners will still be having the Steak Feed and the Snowmobile Raffle Drawing on Saturday.

The Pittsburg High School Poker Run will be different because of the snow conditions. The kids will selling poker hands at Young’s Store on Saturday.

Also, the Warming Hut will be open from 10 to 3 on Saturday.
